Star Party Sunrise

During beginning-mid August the Perseid meteor shower takes a visit to Earth.  This meteor spectacle comes from Comet Swift-Tuttle and every year our planet crosses it's journey and we are graced with it's remnants lighting our beautiful sky.  Luckily, on this particular day the sky up north was crystal clear creating a fantastic canvas for us humans to view the beautiful, burning comet rubble.  I had to work until 10:00 that night so Zack and some friends set up camp at Hidden Beach earlier in the day.  After work I hastily prepared for a short but very dark trek to hidden beach.  With a flashlight in hand, a pack on my back and my feet, eyes and memory of the trail to guide me, I finally made it to Hidden beach.  The sand was cool against my feet, and the air was crisp with the breath of the lake.  I met the group at the fire, got situated, cracked a beer and listened to the fire crackle, the waves crest against the beach and the stars shimmering like snowflakes in the sky.  The arm of our spiral Milk way galaxy was even showing itself -- very dim but you could still make out it's magic dust.  I saw several meteors shooting across the sky and could feel their energy and imagined their journey into Earth's atmosphere.  It truly was a magical, peaceful night.  Sleeping was a little difficult because of my ill preparedness (lost my blanket) but my eyes and soul witnessed one of the most beautiful sunrises I had ever seen.  Watching the magic of the earth rotating and sun rising arose such a breathtaking, happiness and wonder in me.  The sun rises and the Earth rotates every second of everyday, but it's days like these when your eyes and soul are open to witness the event that you regain a sense of self and gratitude for home, our mother earth, the universe and everything that is life and beyond.
